A baby’s posture is very different from all other postures – only because the baby cannot hold its head up for the first few weeks of life. This requires a special approach to portraits of newborns.

Hidden from the camera by baby blankets and tiny bodies, you’ll find a variety of posing nuts and flannel. These small devices effectively create a curved surface for babies to relax comfortably.
Newborns are small individual people with preferences – like all of us! Sometimes the baby will refuse to lie on his stomach or curl up in the basket no matter how patiently I try. However, I have never met a baby who “hates changing diapers.”

Some of my new moms insist their bundles of joy hate being swaddled. I noticed that though
I usually start my sessions on a chin in hand pose. The baby is wearing a diaper covered with flowing cloth.
When the baby sleeps posing in the bucket, I always make sure the mother or assistant is within reach, just in case the baby wakes up and moves from a safe, comfortable position.
The popular “frog” pose for newborns is always complemented with Photoshop composites. This ensures that the baby does not have to bear the weight of its head on its little arms.

“Womb pose” is also known as “taco pose” because the baby is folded in half like a taco! Generally, I only use this pose with babies who are sleeping soundly. For this kind of newborn pose, the baby’s arms and legs need to be in the right place. If the baby wakes up easily, I don’t try this setup.
Once the baby’s ten tiny toes are tucked into the chest in true “taco” style, this portrait is heartwarming. There’s nothing like watching a new baby curl up in the environment of its mother’s womb!

Newborn And Baby Photography
The “Huck Finn” pose is one of my favorite poses. It works for both waking and sleeping newborns, so you’ll find “Huck Finn” portraits in most of my galleries.
For this simple and elegant portrait, I wrapped the newborn in a matching fabric with a blanket underneath. When the blanket and wrap match, the eyes go straight to the baby. This classic portrait shows the newborn without any competing devices.
I left the sleeping baby’s hands uncovered so you can admire his little fingers. However, when the baby wakes up, they tend to suck their hands. In this case, I wrap her hands and leave out her pinky toes instead. For more variety, I often add a teddy bear or a small knitted animal for the baby to hold.
As the baby rests gently in the carrier nearby, I show how parents should position their hands to hold their baby.

Lapped on the old man’s chest. Sometimes I use a newborn teddy bear to show exactly where I will place the baby in the parent’s arms.
Most of my little clients happily sit in my poses. However, sometimes I will photograph very active babies or “bigger babies” who refuse to cooperate. Don’t worry! While I can never guarantee a special pose for newborns, I guarantee my clients a beautiful gallery.
I recently photographed a three-month-old who has spent the first 10 weeks of his life in the hospital. I kept him wrapped throughout the session, only a cute little finger or toe peeking out of the wrap every now and then. This leads to a magnificent gallery for the grateful mother!

Whenever I try to pose with a newborn who refuses to cooperate, I tell my clients, “Your baby’s well-being is more important than any particular pose or photo” – and they always agree.
Did you know that this offers many opportunities to empower your customers and make them feel good at every step?
Make sure your customer gallery is protected from the public by requiring your customer to enter a password before they can view and download their images.
That way, your customers can only share what they love to share, like this cute little baby.

With the Hide feature, your senior can choose how much to reveal when sharing their gallery with friends and family.
The Hide feature allows parents to control which photos are not shared publicly. This means that if someone sees the picture, they will not see the picture that the client has hidden from view.
With the Contract tool, photographers can run their photography business most efficiently! We have senior contracts ready for you to send to your clients today!
You have a self-fulfillment option where your customers order through you and then place an order with your favorite lab, OR your customers can order directly with one of our integrated labs! This gorgeous girl was born at the height of the global fear of COVID-19. The world is just a different place than it was half a year ago when the clock struck midnight. However, this little girl blew me away with her beauty and these amazing portraits. We had to use a bigger prop to fit him as he weighed over 12lbs this session. I just loved her full hair and big eyes!

A newborn baby girl, 2 months old, in a blue wrapped basket and bow is surrounded by flowers in this baby portrait by Nature’s Reward Photography. I love taking monthly baby photos!! Seriously, organizing our little photo shoot at home is one of the things I do the most. These monthly milestone baby photo shoots allow me to flex my creative muscles while staying budget-friendly. One of my goals with this monthly baby photo is to go plastic free. Very tempting to get a balloon but LBH I don’t want to explain to my daughter that there are no more sea turtles because I need an Instagram photo. So my goal with this monthly milestone photo is as well:
And I love this cheap and easy DIY baby milestone photo idea! In April the girl turned three months, so I decided to use the phrase “April showers, bring Mayflowers”. Here’s a super easy photo shoot for your own baby milestone!
Step 2: Use one of the pieces of poster board to create a straight line while tracing your handle. I am free to give the actual part that will go into the hand, but I hope that the stick part is actually even

Step 3: Fold the three red poster boards in half (try not to fold them too much), then use your free hand to trace the umbrella. Think about how many dots you want on your umbrella. Don’t worry about unclear traces, you can use the other side without a pencil for photos.
Step 4: Cut out the handle and umbrella. If you want the center of your umbrella to be a high point, hold your scissors straight before angling down for one of the dips. This ensures you don’t end up with a mini dip. You can always go back and cut if you accidentally get a small lip (see video).
Step 6: Get your letter board and fill in the moon with whatever you want
